Okay. Damn it.
I have been against the war because I always felt that the American public was being lied to as far as the reasons were concerned. I know that Iraquis and the Kurds for sure do not trust the US. They don't want the US in their country, and they certainly do not want the US to control it. I don't think it's America's place to move in and solve the problems of other countries.
However...
I think the whole attack thing went as well as could have been expected, and I hope it's over. I doubt it, but I still hope so.
Also, none of you are making very good arguments, and reading your responses makes me cringe. I think Bush is a total idiot, but calling him a merciless dictator or whatever is completely ridiculous. Saying that the media doesn't censor what it shows us is also laughable. Of course it does.
I hope I'm not moved to post any responses. If we don't agree now, we're not going to agree later.

a few things Im VERY HAPPY WAR SEEMS TO BE OVER my first smiley ever? Certainly a lot of people suffered under Hussein, who would surely break a heap of UN resolutions if he could I know shit about republicans or democrats yes you do sound arrogant marsvoltasucks. That is propaganda the basic principle of mass manipulation. Of course i will get a ton of posts saying "youre blaming everything on the cnn, fuck you, fuck you". But, it is of public knowledge that: Iraqi tv got bombed Al Jazeera site got persistently "hacked" (evil cyberterrorists") and their offices in Baghdad destroyed and journalists killed by US fire. The Palestine Hotel (where independent journalists from around the world stay) got fire from a tank. Because there were "snipers". yeah. And guess who died: not "embedded" reporters. So when someone goes and say You simply answer "they wont let me and they will even get to kill me". this is what happened not what I think Besides what makes you think that iraqis feel great now when theres anarchy ruling and US oil companies are cutting slices of the country for themselves? No weapon of mass destruction was found NOW. Obviously they used gas in the 80s (Paid by the US, not one had anything to say about it), but they didnt have it NOW. In fact they didnt have shit, only kalashnikovs and suicides. How many soldiers actually died because of iraqi fire? So they were NOT the big army, and certainly not the big menace. I mean they RAN AWAY when the troops got to Baghdad!!! Still US broke UN resolutions And it is obvious US army took the country. There are thousands of innecesarily dead people over there. You dont need to be very clever to figure that out. US gov has instrumented the dismantling of governments before (Chile, Nicaragua for example as Cosmonauta said) by supporting the "right" people inside and not getting their hands dirty. They could of course had done it now (not that I agree). They instead chose to take over the whole country. sorry for the so fucking long post

Exactly. A dictator is ONE who has absolute authority. He does not. who has authority to control bush today? UN?...thanks to US goverment UN and international law doesn´t exist. if we don't have international law what is the only way to resolve conflicts: force. wich system resolve conflicts by force...a dictatorship..

Bush is not the sole decision maker in America. He isn't. Nothing you say will make it so. I am sorry.

You're not listening! Yellow and blue make green!
...changing the subject during a discussion to state the obvious does not make you look more right. I hate Bush. I hate the way he is running my country.
All I am adament about is that he is NOT a dictator. God help us all if he were.

God help us all if he were. americans may well see bush as a president and not a dictator but thats because he dosnt dicate to americans. he dictates to the rest of the worlds countries as does every other american president. thats why i say he is a dictator and not a president. he is the worlds dictator as no other person or body has power over the american government - this war has proved that. welcome to the new world order
