Universal Records' official taping policy does not allow taping.
The Mars Volta management, Kristen, has this to say:
"I wanted to let him/them know I appreciate that they ask people not to sell the music and just enjoy it.
Honestly, contrary to what people may think - I don't care if fans tape the shows im actually pretty into it - I really like hearing them all - and I know the band wouldn't mind - if they had their way everything would be free.
I may talk to them about having a more open 'ok to tape' policy, but everyone seems to be doing just fine as it is and theres some stuff to trade etc."
My goal, along with my friend Brian, is to foster a taping and trading community for the Mars Volta. Most importantly is the idea of quality. While MP3s are extremely easy to distribute, they quickly dimish audio quality. I'm not here to debate the argument for and against, just to make the point. Most TMV tapers are cool with MP3s being made of their masters, and while that's cool by me, I, and others, would like to know that flawless versions are attainable.
With this in mind, I contacted antiaktiv and he was very open to the idea of this forum. You can post REQuests, In Search Ofs, For Trades, and so on.
At this point, I'm trying to contact all the known tapers and either get their support, opinions, or... shows. If you have any information, desires, or whatnot... post away.
