yeah. so it fuckin rocked, of course. we kinda got a picture with ikey, and omar waved. but.. that was about it as far as meeting them goes. more importantly, the show was incredible. saul williams was great too, he went completely without beats, really powerful stuff. tmv played the full album w/ televators. lots of great jams, i liked the one they did in drunkship, it was almost like an entirely different song. juans bass solo during veil was mind blowing... ive never seen anyone play so fast.
the crowd sucked as far as im concerned. they received all the performers well, but i was fucking getting CRUSHED in the front on the grating/bar by the wave of people pushing up behind me during tmv. i even have a bruise on my chest from it now. it REALLY sucked, and i was getting very pissed, and it was hard for me to enjoy the show... not to say i didnt, but half of my time was spent trying to give myself room to FUCKING BREATHE, and elbowing the fuckers behind me.
despite the shit, it still was the greatest show ive ever seen. no doubt. didnt beat the full experience of moline (i.e. meeting band, tgi fridays burger), but it came close.

I agree, it was effin' awesome, and since I was really tired, I was kind of glad it got cut short (due to Metro's curfew thing).
I think I got to talk to everybody except Juan, who I have still not met (though he was walking around with Ikey before the show). I got a hug from Cedric, which was almost not even worth the huge rush of people who surged forward when they realized that Cedric had come out. Cindy and I barely escaped with our lives, I swear. It was some scary stuff. I mean, as little as three months ago, these guys were touring with the Peppers and the crowd didn't give two shits about them. Now they're treating them like they're the Beatles or something. It was wack.
Kirk Hammett was also digging them.

hi i'm andrea and this is my first post. i was at the chicago show standing behind saul williams up on the balcony during the mars volta's set. i saw them in detroit two nights before and both shows were amazing and i wished i had bought tickets for a third. thanks to cedric and omar coming out after the show i was able to jump ahead in the coat check line because everyone rushed over to them. thanks guys! some guy behind me in line was talking about how they stayed at his place in st. louis when they played there awhile ago.... hmmmm. i went to the rhcp to see the mars volta more than to see the chili peppers. me and my brother got to the venue late and they had just started. no one in the place knew what was going on. we were the only people standing up for their set as far as i could tell. i guess some dumbasses in the crowd threw some stuff at them. i think cedric called them rednecks & flea told the crowd during the chili pepper's set that he loved everyone except the people responsible for throwing stuff at the mars volta. some people
