so your obviously a chilli fan - but now you know tmv is it a hard choice to pick which one you prefer? Oh, pile on the pressure why don't you?!?! I love the Chilis music and have done since I first heard them in the very late 80s, so I'm afraid they're my main men! I was totally into live gigs around that time and I'm lucky to have seen them in the tiny (and now gone!) Newcastle Riverside venue when they played there. It was an awesome time with some hugely memorable experiences (FNM, Nirvana, Pixies, etc etc etc). Oooh - memory lane trip alert!!! That said, though, I love finding new stuff to listen to, and it's been an awful long time since I was as excited about a new sound as I am about TMV. Bring it on!!! ;D

I like wakeboarding a lot more than water skiing... wakeboarding is fun. Too bad the water around here is all just a degree above freezing Yeah. The cold makes the injuries hurt more I'm sure. Something to do with freezing water feeling like concrete when you hit it at 25 mph!! I have my wakeboard up for sale - wanna buy it??? LostInTheAir : wounds + salt water = good feeling!!! Open your mind to the pain! Taste it! Yeah!

Don't worry - not quite as easily upset as that! So glad you're jealous!!! The Pixies were great, by the way.... ;D

i can imagine. trompe le monde is one of my favourite albums of all time. i've seen the breeders and frank black and the catholics (who played a couple of pixies songs) and even dave lovering's solo show (he does this weird science thing...nothing to do with music), but there are few bands i'm more gutted at being too young to have seen than the pixies.

Right. You'll be pleased to know that I haven't seen either of those. Even though I'm (apparently!) really old. So, for a Mars Volta fan, what do you think of the Chili Peppers?

i'm not a big chilis fan. i've been to four chilis shows in the past, but i've only stayed to the end twice, and once i actually left before they even came onstage. they're outstanding individual musicians, so i can see why people love them so much, but if i had their kind of talent, i wouldn't be doing what they do. basically what i'm saying is that while i can see they're good, they're simply not my thing. first time i saw them they were truly terrible, but the last couple of shows i saw i couldn't really fault as far as the quality of musicianship goes.
and i'll admit that i was in raptures when they played search and destroy by the stooges.

I see. Why leave before they came on? Did you just go to see the support? I can see why people don't like them, but they kind of click with me. I prefer the stuff they came up with on the Blood Sugar Sex Magik album best of all. And I agree that they're not perfect live (Ant's bum notes for a starter!) but it adds to the appeal for me - unpolished and just having a whole lot of fun doing what they do!!! They can carry on as long as they like!!!

I see. Why leave before they came on? Did you just go to see the support? it was the first manchester show of this tour they just did. i was there with hollie (worshipyourtoaster on here) and neither of us are really fans (we were there for the mars volta), and we had standing tickets and there were people in the seating who would have rather been standing, so we switched tickets with them and left. we'd seen them two nights earlier in london (that was when we left halfway through - we were just bored) and we were seeing them again the night before, so leaving before they started wasn't a big deal. anthony's pitching problems seem to not be as bad now as they were when they were touring californication, though. it's like he's got some vocal training between tours or something.
